Recent federal guidance has ended the protections put into place in March of 2020, preventing Medicaid members from losing coverage in the program due to changes. With those requirements coming to an end, the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and the Department of Social Services (DSS) are preparing to resume normal Medicaid operations in March of 2023. Over the course of 12 months, redeterminations for ongoing Medicaid eligibility will be initiated for all 2.2 million Virginians enrolled in Medicaid.
