National Rural Substance Use Disorder Health Equity & Stigma Summit

Start date: May 18, 2022
End date: May 20, 2022
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
Location: Virtual & In-Person

UR Medicine Recovery Center of Excellence will hold a Rural Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Health Equity and Stigma Summit in May 2022 to discuss stigma associated with SUD and examine the many challenges created by stigma that significantly impede efforts to overcome the opioid crisis. Focus will be on rural communities, where limited resources, fewer providers, and lack of anonymity can impose substantial barriers to those seeking SUD/opioid use disorder (OUD) care.

Why Attend?

  • Learn actionable strategies to help rural communities address stigma and promote health equity for individuals with SUD/OUD
  • Consider the impact that historical social stratification, along with stigma, has on health equity in rural communities, creating barriers to SUD/OUD treatment.
  • Share successfully implemented strategies with fellow attendees.
  • Connect with other innovators and communities to establish a continuous learning network.
